Tijuana, 1997

Silvestre Rodriguez is a member of the executive committee of the independent union at the Han Young maquiladora. Workers at Han Young have been fighting to organize an independent union since June, 1997. The graffiti behind him says "freedom of union association." Over it, supporters of the company union at Han Young have painted "We are Priistas" (supporters of Mexico's governing PRI party).
